Messaging terms

Last updated 5 August 2026

MealPigeon, operated by Yongle Corp, sends text messages about food orders you place through this site. This page describes exactly what we send, how you agreed to it, and how to stop.

How you opt in

By web form, in two steps, both of them yours. Nothing is purchased, rented or inferred, and we never message a number that has not been entered into an account by the person who signed in to it.

  1. You enter your own phone number when you sign up, or later in settings. An order cannot be collected without one, because the driver checks the last four digits at handover.
  2. You tick Text message under “How to reach you” in settings, and then tick the individual topics you want under “What to tell you about”. Both are unticked until you tick them.

Promotional topics carry the agreement wording next to the checkbox and record the moment you ticked it. Turning a topic off takes effect immediately.

What we send, and how often

Order updates (transactional). Tied to an order you placed and paid for. Typically two or three messages per order:

  • your order is confirmed;
  • your food has arrived at the pickup point;
  • your food was not collected;
  • a refund has been issued.

Reminders before ordering closes (promotional). Off unless you turn them on. At most one per service you are reminded about.

Message frequency therefore depends on how often you order. Someone who orders twice a week receives roughly four to six messages a week; someone who does not order receives none.

Restaurants and drivers working with us receive their own operational messages — orders to cook, and handover lists — under the same rules.

Example messages

These are the actual message templates, not paraphrases:

  • MealPigeon: order SAC08150001 confirmed for lunch at SAC Plaza. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • MealPigeon: order SAC08150001 is at SAC Plaza now. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • MealPigeon: order SAC08150001 was not collected. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • MealPigeon: $12.50 refunded for order SAC08150001. Allow a few days. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • MealPigeon: lunch orders for SAC Plaza close 10:30 AM. Reply STOP to opt out.

How to stop

Reply STOP to any message from us and we will stop sending texts. Reply START to resume. Reply HELP, or email support@mealpigeon.com, for help.

You can also untick text messaging in settings at any time. Stopping texts does not cancel any order you have already placed, and does not stop order emails unless you turn those off too.

Costs and carriers

Message and data rates may apply. We do not charge for messages; your mobile carrier may, according to your plan. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Delivery depends on your carrier and your handset, so we never rely on a text alone: everything we text you is also visible in your order history when you sign in.

Your information

We use your phone number to send these messages and to identify you at pickup, and for nothing else. We do not sell or share it for marketing. The privacy policy sets out who processes it on our behalf, and the terms of service cover the rest of the service.
