Privacy policy

Last updated 5 August 2026

MealPigeon is operated by Yongle Corp. This page describes what we collect, why, who sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It describes how the service actually works rather than reserving every right we might one day want.

What we collect

Your account. Your name and email address, from whichever method you sign in with. If you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture URL from Google; we do not receive your Google password.

Your phone number. Required to place an order, because the driver checks the last four digits before handing food over. We store the full number so we can text you about your order, and we derive those last four digits from it. Drivers are shown only the last four.

Your orders. What you ordered, any options and notes you added, what you paid, which pickup location and which service. Order records are kept as business and tax records after the order is complete.

Your notification choices. Which channels you want (email, text) and which topics, plus the time you agreed to any topic that counts as marketing. That timestamp exists specifically so we can show you agreed, and so that you can hold us to it.

Optionally, a usual pickup location. Only the stop the menu opens on. It does not restrict where you can order.

What we do not collect

Your card details never reach our servers. Checkout hands you to Stripe, which collects and stores your card directly. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, the amount, and a Stripe reference — never a card number.

No analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, no session recording and no third-party tracker of any kind on this site. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

No location tracking. We geocode the street addresses of our own pickup locations so the list can be sorted by distance. We do not request or store your device location.

Who can see your information

Access is deliberately narrow, and enforced on the server rather than by hiding things in the interface.

Restaurants see only the items ordered from them, with the customer’s name so the bag can be labelled. A restaurant cannot see your phone number, and cannot see what you ordered from any other restaurant in the same order.

Drivers see, for their own pickup location only, the order number, your name, the items, and the last four digits of your phone number. A driver at one stop cannot look up another stop’s customers.

We can see your account and order history, to run the service and handle refunds and support.

Companies that process data for us

We use a small number of services to operate. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.

  • Google Cloud and Firebase — sign-in, database and hosting. Your account and order records are stored here.
  • Stripe — payments. Receives your card details directly from you, plus the order amount and reference.
  • Resend — sends our email. Receives your email address and the message.
  • Twilio — sends our text messages. Receives your phone number and the message.
  • Google Maps — geocodes our pickup-location addresses. Receives our addresses, not yours.

Text messages

Texts are opt-in and separately controlled per topic. Order updates are transactional — they concern an order you placed and paid for. Reminders before ordering closes are promotional, are switched off unless you turn them on, and record when you agreed.

Reply STOP to any message to stop all texts, or START to resume. Full details are on the messaging terms page.

What you can ask us to do

Email support@mealpigeon.com and we will:

  • tell you what we hold about you, and send you a copy;
  • correct anything wrong;
  • delete your account. Completed orders are kept as financial records, but we detach them from your account and remove your contact details;
  • stop messaging you, on any or all channels.

We aim to reply within a few days. You can change your phone number, pickup default and notification choices yourself at any time in settings.

Children

The service is intended for university students and adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.

Changes

If we change what we collect or who processes it, we will update this page. If a change is significant and affects you, we will tell you by email rather than only editing this page quietly.

Questions about any of this go to support@mealpigeon.com.
